This temporary exhibition commemorates the centenary of the First World War. 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the first men to enlist in what would become known as the First World War. They rushed to assemble for War worried it would be over by Christmas and they would miss out on “doing their bit”. Based on first hand accounts, this exhibition focuses on the experiences of the Peninsula servicemen and women during the course of the War. On display will be photographs, letters and souvenirs collected by the soldiers, some of whom (lest we forget) were never to return.
